Winter/Snowmobiling ReportClick here for previous reports Winter/Snowmobiling ReportJanuary 18, 2012 We had another winter storm that started yesterday morning and continued all day and most of the evening. We got about another 6" or so of snow. I took my ruler out into the yard and measured in numerous spots. The consensus is that we have a total of about 10" of snow here at the lodge. We are slated to have another system come in later tonight which could bring another 3" to 6" additional accumulations and now in the forecast every day for the foreseeable future. Trails should be in good shape and finally ready for some riding! We have rooms available for the weekend so give us a shout. Clint
January 13, 2012 It's cold and snowy again. We had a warm up and lost most of our snow from 2 weeks ago. We held onto about 2" or 3" inches in the woods and the rest was lost to bare ground. We are now at about 6" and 8" in some places. The ground is still soft because we haven't had a long cold spell to get a perma frost started and we have been raining and melting occasionally. So in places it is wet under the snow. Most lakes are still not safe to ride on or ice fish many had open water just days ago and some that are small in the woods, shallow, and protected from the wind have 3"-5" of ice in places. I haven't been on any of them to fish if that tells you something. A good friend fell thru the ice many years ago and I don't go until he goes. No Bluegill or Perch is worth your life..
January 2, 2012 Hi All
Here we go.....FINALLY some snow worth talking about. We have 8" + on the ground as of this afternoon. Check our webcam to see the back yard if you like. More is on the way, how much more is anyone's guess. I have had the quad out and plowed for the first time. I went out and did some trail maintenance in December with the Trailriders Snowmobile Club former President Jim Dingman. We did a bunch of sign work as well. It took a long time to get here and there is enough for the first ride of the season. I bought a new sled this season and itching to get out..We have rooms and cabins open..Come on up.. Sled Safe
