January 10, 2008 Hi All
As most of you could guess, we have had a total melt down of our snow. The only traces left are a few piles from plowing. We had some good conditions for a few weeks up here with a foot, more or less, of snow on the ground before and during the holidays. So now the rebuilding will begin. We are going back into the deep freeze this weekend and will start back at ground zero. No big dumpings to report in the forecast just some steady accumulations and cold temps.
I was out on the ice 2 days this week and it is still holding up on most lakes. While some others that were struggling to make good ice are now unsafe. It is back to 3 spudding around a little before you walk out. The fishing has been good with my limit of gills both days this week. This weather has them fooled into thinking this is last ice. Most people believe first and last ice is when the fishing is best.
Ride safe and don't forget to do a snow dance.

Please keep in mind that Lake County has 156 lakes. We will update you on the ice fishing when the lakes become safe to fish on.
