Hi All

 

We have 6" on the ground with more on the way. Some local weather people says 3" to 5 " more expected this weekend. It is snowing now at a very steady rate. The trails should be in fair to good condition for the first decent snow of the new year for the Baldwin area. Next week we are looking at below freezing temperatures all week with more snow on the way. That is very good news! We are going to keep the snow base we have and add more. How much more next week and when remains to be seen.

 

Ice fishing conditions are fair 2" to 4" near shore and some lakes are still not safe with open slush in the middle. Use a spud to walk out( 3 spud rule), don't forget your icealls, travel light, and carefully go out. A lone ice fisherman was saved this week on the local news station by a couple kids checking the ice when they heard a cry for help. Lucky for him the kids heard him and got him some help quickly.

 

If you would like to come up this weekend and blow the carbon, rust and old gas from last year out. Do a little tuning and have some fun there is plenty of snow for a decent ride. I'm pretty conservative about trail conditions. I have done alot of riding and usually don't boast trails until we have about 10" to 12" of base.

 

My son Adam will be riding his new Christmas snowmobile this weekend. He got a 96 Polaris Indy Lite 340 from his Dad for X-mas. So if you can't get a hold of us we are out riding. Leave a message and/ or stop by and take a card off the door to check into a room. Many of our rooms are still open for the weekend. Have fun and be safe.
