Red Moose Lodge,
From all of us at Wayne State, we wanted to thank you very much for this past weekend. We had a ton of fun throughout the entire weekend. Saturday was a blast on the river. From my experiences, both Clint and Johnny were great guides for us. Johnny was extremely patient with Rob and teaching him how to fish. Watching Rob from the start of the day to the end of the day and watching Johnny teach him how to fly fish was personally my favorite part. When he landed that fish, there was so much excitement between us three. I think something only like fishing can do that for grown men. I know I was screaming like a kid on Christmas morning. You guys not only put us on fish all day, but were a lot of fun to be around. Not to mention the lunch and brats were outstanding.
We loved the lodge as well. The rooms were beyond our expectations, well at least mine because I had never stayed there before. The little breakfast room and continental breakfast is a great thing for your guests. That really helped us get ready for the day on the water. I think this sets you guys apart from anyone else around.
All day today we have been talking about planning a trip next year already. Maybe even one in the fall as well to get into some salmon.
Once again, thank you so much for your hospitality all weekend. Please thank Johnny as well for us. See you guys again!

To Clint and Debbie,
Please note how much appreciated the great service and professionalism of the delivery of your services were accepted from expert and courteous guide service to accessing the hot tub and towels provided and the nice clean room . The services were very thoughtful and prompt. The experience was one to remember
I really enjoyed the friendly and thoughtful way we were treated.
Maybe we can take our fishing experience a step further and work on fly fishing or perhaps land a big salmon in the near future!
Thank you very much
Just wanted to drop you a little note and thank you for patrolling the river. My brother and I were in baldwin this past saturday around noon, and we were parked at 76th street where it crosses the river upstream of M37. You were quick to stop and inform us the river was closed. I applaud you for looking out for the river, and our future salmon runs. We were just observing some active redds, its fascinating to watch nature. Were from Indiana and were just up enjoying the scenery and observing the salmon spawn. We had fished the big manistee on friday, and were just driving around most of the day on saturday. We’ve seen you plenty of times in the lower river in early fall (scottville) and always appreciate your kindness and respect you show on the river. We went down to the white river later that afternoon, and that river could use some policing!! Snaggers ripping fish off the redds. It was sickening and maddening at the same time, and I’m sure this goes on in the PM as well. At least the PM has closures so the fish have a good chance to reproduce.
At any rate, again, I applaud you for your efforts.
Clint and Debi,
We just wanted to write a short note to thank you for your hospitality this past weekend. Gail and I really enjoyed the accommodations and the cleanliness and detail in our room was wonderful. The setting is perfect and relaxing. We would highly recommend that anyone looking to stay in an “up north” atmosphere to please give the Red Moose Lodge a try. You will not be disappointed.
We look forward to future trips to the Baldwin area and looking forwarding to seeing both of you again.

Jean and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip with you. We were well aware that the fishing was an early season try; makes it all the more challenging! We shook some rust out of our skills, getting ready for the next time. We're thinking Thanksgiving or Spring. Will let you know as soon as we decide.
The smoked salmon you gave us was wonderful. Thanks again for that and the other salmon, too.

Clint, I have arrived back in Delaware and am forwarding a few pictures from our fishing excursion last Wednesday. Thanks again for your patience with this novice, and for leading us through a great morning on the river. I enjoyed meeting you and really appreciated your ability to put us in a place on the river to help me catch a nice fish. The memories of the adventure will last forever -- thanks again. Pat Neeley
In all my years of traveling/staying in hotels, I’ve never written to say ‘thanks’ before. I am really, really impressed with your motel.
I might be impressed simply because you are situated on my favorite stretch of the my favorite river, but the room I had (#6) was incredibly clean and comfortable. I only grabbed a cup of coffee at the ‘community room’ but it is unique and a great idea.
Thank you again. I plan on staying with you in the future.
Dear Debi and Clint,
My visit to Baldwin and the Pere Marquette were certainly enhanced by your hospitality and wonderful lodge. I feel fortunate to have found the Red Moose Lodge. The room was comfortable and other guests very friendly.
Clint, the day out on the river will always be with me. Especially every time I eat some salmon. That was some great time. Sorry I spoiled your hook-up to in the boat ratio. See what you can do to get some of those logs out of the river, it would help us salmon fishing newbies.
I attached a couple of pics.
Thank you so much for the wonderful room. My children loved the bunk beds and air conditioning! We will be coming back again soon! We are hoping we can get a room in late September or early October. How soon does the "peak" season start filling up? Thank you again, we had a great time!
I wanted to thank you for making our (Roger & me) trip a memorable one. You were very professional and your teaching patience was greatly appreciated. You enthusiasm made it obvious that you enjoy what you are doing. You knowledge of the river and equipment made our trip a success. Thanks for helping with the fly tying as well. The lodging was very adequate also. I would recommend your services to a beginner or a seasoned angler and certainly would be happy to be a referral. We would like to do it again sometime.
Thanks and Best of Luck!
My brother-in-law, Dick, and I had a great time back on the 12th, really enjoyed ourselves. I have been fishing with him every year for the past 30 years and this was his first time for salmon. He commented to me that he is sold on salmon fishing and had a really great time on the river and that you made it a great trip. If you knew him like I do you would know that is a supreme compliment. Thanks again.
You run a first class operation!
Clint and Debi:
I just wanted to say thanks for your hospitality during our visit this weekend. We could not have picked a better place to stay and everyone who was with me had the same thought. I will definitely recommend you lodge to anyone who is planning a trip to the Baldwin area. I hope that we were not too noisy around the fire on Saturday night.
Thanks for the great day of fishing this past Wednesday. It was a blast at the Turnaround hole...watching you try to cook lunch and land fish at the same time. I will see you next year with Dave.
Hey there Clint............Actually my friend that stayed there is Bruce. I went to High School with him in East Lansing and ran into him at a class reunion 7 years ago. Lost touch with him but a great guy. He fishes but every time with a guide. I've fished 32 years for steelhead and salmon and NEVER once took a guide. My dad was a school teacher and Bruce's dad is a bijillionare. Bruce has maintained his normal guy status unlike most guys with unlimited $$ at their disposal. I take him out now and then just him and me walking in and I've got some productive spots on the PM and Big M. and he enjoys it because we usually find fish. He does not much but fish all over the world.........and I mean Frickin everywhere, Iceland, Ireland, Argentina, Seychelle Islands in the Indian ocean (spend 3 seeks there just before going to your place) And a fether in your cap for all your hard work on RML: I took him to your place a few years back and he thought it was very neat, well kept, nice flytying room and overall just a cool place to stay. This is coming form a guy that is jetting all over the world, eating the best food at country clubs and staying at only the best 5 star hotels all the time. I meant to tell you that but never got it out to you. You can pat yourself on the back a few times for making that place what it is.
I sent along a couple of pictures from our day on the river with
you. It was a blast...so much so that my friend Dave Hatch
can hardly wait to get back up there again.
I enjoyed it too. And I got some fabulous video of you and Dave
volleying back and forth, with a good size king on, about whether
the chicken was going to burn.
Joe and I had a great time. We look forward
to next year.
All the Best,
Just wanted to say thanks again for a great day on the river this past Saturday. I learned a lot from you, with hopes of putting that knowledge to good use in the future. You were a great guide – it was nice to get acquainted as the day progressed. I had the time of my life out there with you and Dusty. You have a nice website, by the way. Perhaps we can “hook up” in the future. Until then, may the many blessings of the outdoors be yours ……..
Dear fishing guru: We got all the pictures just fine. Carol and Daniel were quite impressed with the fish and the guiding provided. I told Carol you did a fine job just like the first time- its just all things were normal this time and the other time was a fluke, Thanks again for everything. I hope you have lots of bookings this fall, that it snows, and the worlds biggest buck falls between your cross hairs . Well I'll spread the gospel about your lodge and guiding services far and wide. Let me know if there is ever anything I can do for you. Sincerely- friend and client Ken .
