Fishing ReportClick here for previous reports May 12 2011
Hi All
Trout fishing is getting off the ground and Steelhead fishing is thinning out fast. Streamer fishing has been good when there is a good stain to the water..It was getting low and clear until last night. We had hard rains and flash flooding from here north got the worst of it..Reports of 4" to 6" around Onekema, Frankfort, Manistee, Ludington, Leroy, Luther, Freesoil, and Brethren areas..We averaged in the 2"to 4" part of the storm..The river is rising and has a great stain..Anyone looking to do a streamer trip I'm open for the next week..

Rooms are in high demand with the 39 th. annual Blessing of the Bikes this weekend May 13,14,15 th. This is the largest bike rally in our state and there setting up tents and the vendors are getting ready starting yesterday.. ![]()
Fun fishing wise I have been out trolling for the elusive Walleye and have struck out the first night out on a local lake but have big plans of hitting it big tonight with my friend Sean on a new lake..Wish me luck..I did make it out a few time tossing around streamers for Trout with Tommy Lynch and got a nice 17"- 18" brown and also caught a nice 17" brown here in the back yard a couple days after the opner of Trout season. ![]()
I have some pictures of some fish caught on my last few trips out in the fly water..The Steelheading and streamers was good for Ryan's 2 days on the water last week. The Steelheading and nymphing was great one afternoon when the water was clear and we had bright sun..Found a couple pieces of dark water tied on some fat and juicy nymphs and John went to town after throwing streamers for 3 hours without moving a single fish..When the going gets tough the tough gets nymphing..We have had some hatches and bugs are flying around the driveway every night. Mostly Hennys, and Black Quills and a few Rustys..Very few fish feeding on the surface as of late. Most of the feeding has been under water on worms, eggs, nymphs and some streamers..Guest staying here throwing spinners and rapala's for trout have been doing well from what they tell me.. ![]()
That's all I have for now and I have lots of open dates for anyone looking for a 1/2 day or full day trip here in May or June. Streamers, nymphing, and dries will be the name of the game for Brown and Rainbow Trout.. Enjoy he nice weather when we have it... Tight Lines
Clint
