Fishing ReportClick here for previous reports January 4, 2011
So another year starts. 2010 was a good year looking back.. In the last couple weeks, lots of fun fishing. Ice fishing 3 times and Steelheading a bunch of days. It get's real slow in December and that is fun fishing season for me..We just melted off all our snow and the only snow left is some piles but that will in changing today. The Pere Marquette has a nice stain to it. It is cooling down today but it was 49 and rain a day or two ago. A few fresh Steelhead are moving in from the lake and some are just going to move up a little. A shift upstream. Flies have been working well for the Steelhead and Trout mostly eggs with a few nymphs mixed in. Some days we have had to work for them but the few good days made up for it.
![]() Plugging conditions should be good with the increase water and color for the next week. A week form today ice will start to become a issue again for the rivers. At the moment the river is warmer and moving quick enough it will take a few days for ice to build. The lakes are glass ice till we get some snow, don't forget the ice cleats. Snowmobilers were around for a few days during the holidays and had some decent riding. The snow melted off but the trail riding/conditions are picking up again.

Winter is here and so are our winter room rates and a special on our trips. I would also like to extend to anyone wanting to fish while there isn't any crowds and very little pressure on the river a winter special.. If you book a trip from now till March 15 th. you will get a free nights stay in a single or double room on either a full or half day trip..My way of thanking you for braving the cold to spend a day on the water with me. We can either fly fish or drop back plugs for Steelhead or Trout. I fish either method and it's your choice. I offer trips on the Pere Marquette or the Manistee rivers in the winter months... ![]()
