Hi All

 

The Salmon season is in full swing. We have the same conditions as 2 years ago, dry and sunny. Everything up here could use a flash flood rain of 3-6 inches to pump up this run and get the 2nd. half of this game going. The first half of the run is on the gravel with some new fish in the holes showing up. I believe there are many more fish to come in October once it cools off and we get our weather to start acting like fall instead of summer.

 

I have had a great season so far. I have only been skunked once, just yesterday. I had a brand new angler and we worked on C&D fly casting for most of the day with 10 to 12 fish on just none to the net. Before that it has been all good. I have had my motor on the boat from Aug 14th until Sept. 20th running all bait and tackle trips in the lower river. On my last hardware trip Jack brought the biggest fish to the boat in the last few seasons @ 22.8 lbs and 37" "Slab sided like a battle ship and thick".. It was dropped off at Oak & Pines Taxidermist across the street.

 

Most of my trips to come are on the fly rods. I would very much like to see someone beat that big fish with a fly or putting a nice steelie in the net would be cool as well. We will just have to wait and see what happens from here out on this run.

 

This morning I was off the river to go bird hunting with some long time friends, Brett and Jim. We hit the woods around 9 A. M. and I left them around Noon to get back to the lodge. By then we had dropped 3 grouse and 4 woodcock. I had a lot of grouse flushes but there are to many leaves to see them plus many were flying low and away. Not to many good chances at them. There are no easy shots this time of year just lots of flushes and many young birds.

 

I will be on the river guiding from tomorrow until the 2nd of October. I have open dates for October 3rd through the 5th next week and then my guide schedule opens up from there with some spotty dates here and there throughout October and November. Give me a call we have many good room openings from October 8th.
