Hi All,

Peak season is quickly approaching . The Salmon are already in the system and everything is just about to bust loose. We have been fishing the lower river for the past week with good to great catches of Salmon & Pike pitching hardware. .

On Saturday morning  I went out with friends Steve and Carl and in the evening I took out my wife Debi and son Adam. We went 3 for 8 through the course of the day. On Monday morning I went on a scouting mission with friend John Robinson and son Adam. We went 5 for 6 that morning.  Wednesday and Friday this week I have guided trips booked. I also have more trips booked over the course of the next couple of weeks. The dates I have available in September are the. 5th. through the 8th,the.21st, and the 24th. In October and November I have lots of great dates open for Salmon & Fall Steelhead trips.

It has been a wonderful summer here at the lodge. The trout fishing is still good in the upper stretches of the river. Day time fishing produces some good action on terrestrials, small dry's and nymphs. The night fishing produces the big boys on mice, frog, leach, and crayfish patterns.

Over the summer the Green Cottage landing was remodeled and looks great. Bowman's campground and landing has also been renewed after the storm that destroyed most of that area last year.

This summer I have spent a lot of time on Lake Michigan trolling with my friend Sean Mc Donald. He has a 29' Pro Line Great Lakes boat. We caught lots of Salmon and Trout all summer. I also partook in a tournament with him for a day of the "Gander Mountain Great Lakes Classic". Sean's boat, "Katch Me", and crew took 4th. out of 89 boat's that day. We also spent some time taking out family members during a family reunion. Many other good times were spent on Sean's boat this summer with lots of friends.

I enjoy Great lakes fishing enough that I decided to rig up my small boat (refered to as the " Minnow"). It has enough room to run up to 8 lines. You only want to fish 3 people at a time. Any more than that becomes a little tight. This boat is perfect for the channel, pier heads and the inland lakes as well. I have been out on Lake Michigan but you have to pick and chose the days to go. Friends John Brad and I went out on the " Minnow" and caught 3 Salmon on a short evening trip to break in the boat and get everything smelling fishy. I also took out my wife and son, we had to come in early before the good bite so we got skunked. I'm having fun tooling around working the kinks out of the rigs and buying all the tackle. Buying all the stuff and setting it up is half the fun. Taking people out to catch fish...." priceless".

It has been a very busy Summer and will be a even busier since Fall is coming. I'm looking forward to it cooling down to run the dogs on some birds and getting all the blinds set up for deer season.

On August 22nd, I took out a couple of customers, Eric and Kevin. We went to the lower river and found a good number of Kings. They were in all of the usual pockets. Kevin had the first good strike. He landed the first fish before he had the chance to wake up. Eric then had his turn in a different spot and had a few good strikes before he landed one. All in all we hooked up over a dozen and landed two. They had a great time fishing and those King Salmon really know how to battle and demand respect.

Lastly we at the Red Moose Lodge would like to congradulate Tommy and Andrea Lynch on getting married August 16th. We coulnd't be happier for the bride and groom and wish them a lifetime of happiness!

Look forward to seeing everyone this fall here at the Lodge or on the river.
