Fishing ReportClick here for previous reports August 20, 2007 Hi All,
Now this rain is worth writing about...Lake Michigan rolled over bringing the cold water to the bank. It has cooled off by almost 20 degrees day and night. The rain has been pretty consistent for the last couple of days. Hum, Hum wonder what that will do for the up coming Salmon run ?? Now we haven't had anywhere near as much rain as Southern Michigan. It is almost flooding down there. It has been heavy at times here but steady would more describe it . The ground was very thirsty up here all across Northern Michigan. So this hasn't caused any blowout in the river " yet" (disclaimer) and the PM is in great shape with this much needed rain and cool off.

I went out scouting Last week on Tuesday and Wednesday. We had good luck both times out. We caught quite a few Pike. I also had my first bite off by a larger pike. Last year I was up to 3 good Pike lost along with the baits on bite offs. This week I was out Sunday and Monday. There seems to be a few more Salmon around but still kinda slow overall. Had one grab last night. This morning we went 3 for 3 on Salmon and a couple other nips as well.

The launch at M- 37 is half complete and is being hindered with all the rain. If you are interested in some fishing for Kings, Pike or Trout I have a few good trip dates open for the rest of August and early September. We can catch these fish with either flies or hardware "dealers choice".

![]() The trout fishing is still good in the upper stretches with all methods working well. With this added rain the nymphing / streamer bite should pick up a bit and the cool nights will slow the mouse bite. Summer isn't over. Soon it will be hot and dry and the night bite will bounce back for a little while longer. In the next 3 weeks the Salmon roe will start to work it's way into there main diet.
