Hi All

Steelhead season is still in swing. New fish coming up and old fish leaving. We have a real nice stain to the water and sunny sky's today. I have been on the water with lots of great people and the fishing has been good to fair with many average days. Thank You to everyone who has stayed with us and fished with me the last couple weeks !!The last day I smoked them was on the 7 th. just after we had a little rain and the river was on the rise after the 2 weeks plus of drought and high pressure. If you were here on the 6th. and 7 th. I'm sure your day of fishing was good to great.. I haven't been camping on any hot spots. I've just been chip chopping my way down the river at the biters in the pocket waters. Most of the time I have spent on the water the gravels are empty anyway's so I really have had no choice but to fish the way I have been and wait for a BITE. The fish are there but sometimes they don't want to bite or there just not in the feeding lanes. With the nice colored water we have had the last week or so I have been able to fish larger flies than normal. As things clear up we will be going back to the smaller more natural stuff..

Flies that have been on the menu have been clown eggs, glo bug eggs in many colors, prince nymphs, stones, flash back hares ears, PM blond, green caddis, smolt, sparrows nymphs and peacock wigglers. Those have been the best for me. When the water is clear I run more nymphs..I have been fishing mostly here on the Pere Marquette but I have been on the Muskegon a couple time as well. Both rivers are fishing good. Back in March I hit the Walleye run on the MO. Brad and I were scouting it one evening for some trips coming up and we had 4 hours to fish and we had about a dozen Walleye on and landed half of them and found some Steelhead and Rainbow Trout as well. It was good enough to go back to the next couple days I know that. Every hole we fished we had a rod bent on a fish of some kind very soon. Eggs and smolt patterns worked best that evening..Boy I will say it was tough putting back all those Walleyes that were out of season. I kept picturing french fie's next to them..That sounds like a good idea I will go thaw out some fillets from ice fishing season.

I have some great open dates to guide coming up April 15th and,17th  and then it is wide open from there with lots of great dates to Steelhead/ and Trout fish all thru the rest of April even into the early weeks in May. Steelhead can and will still be able to be found. May is great you can go from Steelhead fishing to a good hatch for Trout on the same day..

Next week I will be featured in a segment on a new Hunting and Fishing Show called EP Adventures on FOX Sunday mornings at 11 a.m.--11:30 a.m .I think it will be on a day we spent on the lower PM in March this year. I haven't seen it yet so I'm not sure.  www.epadventures.com is their website. Many of them at EP Adventures have hunted and fished most of there lives around the Baldwin area much like myself. Be sure to tune in it will be my first time on T.V.. Getting pretty fired up for the first season Turkey hunt. I drew a tag for April 19th. thru 25th. for area K around here. A few birds are already on the radar and hope to have one down by 9 a.m the first morning. I love Turkey hunting but hate the up before the birds routine..

Got to get off the computer and get ready for another busy week..

Tight lines
Clint
