Hi All

Spring is here and so are the Steelhead. The fishing was good to great right before we left for the Bahamas and remains good. Steelhead have been spotted on the rocks along with a few Coho's.Water is clear both on the PM and the Big man. I'm afraid to say this to loud but we could use some color. The water is still pretty darnn cold. Many people getting out are still getting cold feet. I haven't put the boot foots away yet. The ground is still 80 % snow covered with some hard thick base, almost glacier. Air temps have been nice during the day as of late and refreezing most nights. So were getting a slow melt. Things could change soon if we get a shower.

Our trip to the Bahamas was great. We had a pretty nice time meeting many of Debi's co- workers. We had a great place to stay at Atlantis on Paradise Island. The food and water park was great. The offshore fishing was slow but still had a chance to wet a line without ice in the guides. We targeted Wahoo,Dolphin and Marlin on a 48' boat. That's the largest off shore boat I've been on. We did a few other activities like Debi was petting the Dolphins one day and we both went in a underwater mini sub about 15' to 20' deep along the reef for a tour. Pretty neat sticking you head into a over sized fish bowl with O2 tank hooked up cruising at about 5 mph on this craft..Swim-men with the fishes..

On Grand Bahama Island I went out with H20 Bonefish guides Jason and Theo. The fishing was pretty slow.. We ran into a nasty cold front and fishing shut down on the last day. We saw hundreds of Bones on the last day but they wouldn't touch a fly. Guess I should have had fresh shrimp. The highlight of the second day was 1 for 4 on Bones and casting at 4 permit. 3 of them were around the 10 to 20 lbs range and one around 40 lbs. A Giant Permit even underwater. A couple of the Permit looked at the fly but no takes. The first day on the water we were 100' from the launch and had our first Bonefish on the second cast and 5 minutes later to the boat. It started off way to easy. I can say everything I heard about the wind down there was true. 60' casts were ok but anything past that was a blessing and timing. Beautiful place to fish and plenty of fish to cast to. It's just winter fishing for them as well. The season down there fires up about late April and May with some real heat.

In late February, just before I left, we had a melt down and a fresh push of Steelhead. The trips and fun fishing were very good. Uber and I plugged on the 23 rd. Brian Kessle was out with me for a day of pluggin on the 24 th... Fun fished with Tommy Lynch with flies on the 28th. Had a 1/2 day trip with William and his son on the 26th. William caught one fish on a plug and his son Tyler caught 2 on flies back to back. Then it was time to get packed up for our trip..

Went fun fishing today with Johnny Matson to thaw out his jet boat on the Big Man and in the first spot we set the 4 th. rod in the rod holder and a couple minutes later we landed this nice spring buck. Then the sun was over the trees and it was game over for us along with our plug bite. I guess we should have got out of bed earlier. Johnny's boat ran good but the mice must have been chewing on his trailer wires over the winter. Misson accomplished..

I have some open dates if you would like to chase some Steelhead or Trout give me a call. There will be some great fishing coming up and the Spring Steelhead run is just starting to get really fired up and will be going strong till around early May..

Tight Lines
